January 2016 Chapter Meeting
For a cold January evening we had a large turnout for the chapter meeting around 25-30 came out. But it's no surprise people wanted to hear about Roger's experience winning the Air Force 1991 Gunsmoke Top Gun Award. Talk about some cool stories. My Trip to Fairbanks from K34
In 1966 my mother’s cousin Patsy Flannigan flew with her husband Larry to Fairbanks Alaska. Larry had a Mooney M20 based at Gardner airport. Another pilot (Jim) had flown his Mooney to the Kansas City area to visit family. While he was here he broke his leg in an accident. Jim asked Larry if he would fly back with him and Patsy went along. Here is her first person account. We left Gardner Kansas (K34) at 5:30 am June 1st, 1966 for Fairbanks, Alaska. New Years Day Chili Feed
Great New Year's Day chili feed hosted by your VAA 16. At least a ten year traditional started by Dale Rose and Micki Shetterly. At least 70 folks showed up. Just goes to show Vintage Chapter 16 is alive and well! "New Years Day Chili Feed" at our beloved K34. Bring some Chili if you have some you like to cook, or some other dish to share.
