Kansas City Area Vintage Aircraft Fly-In
Every year on the 4th weekend in June, VAA Chapter 16 hosts the annual Greater Kansas City Area Vintage Fly-in at the Gardner, Kansas Municipal Airport (K34), "The Best Little Airport in Kansas." Started in 2002, this event has become the largest vintage and antique airplane fly-in in the area. The 2007 Fly-In was written up in the Vintage Airplane magazine's March 2008 edition. Join us for a good, old fashioned fly-in featuring grass runways, the smell of burgers, a fly market and camaraderie!

Fly-in Air Traffic Procedures / Safety
Gardner Municipal airport (K34) is a public-use airport, and as such, we do not restrict any use of the airport by its flight school, or any other normal operations. Runways may be closed via NOTAM, so be sure to check all pertinent information before you attend. Traffic pattern is left hand and normally we use runway 17 for landing and takeoff, wind permitting. During the Fly-in, our safety officer monitors the CTAF 122.8 and gives airport advisories on this frequency. Once on the ground our ground handlers via 122.8 will direct you to the proper parking are for the event. We request that all participants use caution and keep your eyes outside the cockpit, as traffic can get very heavy during the Fly-in. All aircraft should be secured with tie-downs, we do not provide tie-downs so be sure to bring them! Jeff Sullens (816) 729-3151 skydevil154@gmail.com
Camping / Lodging
Camping is available on the field, there is even a small playground area for the kids. However, there are no shower facilities.
Hotels are available close by, and we have volunteers that will run you into town and back to the airport in the morning. Super 8 Motel in Gardner (913) 856-8887 is the closest to the field. If they are all booked, Olathe, KS is very close and has many
Volunteers
Yep, we always need more. Without volunteers we could not put on this event. It is work of course, but we have a good time, and do our best to make things go well. But remember....Murphy's law is real, and we're human! To sign up to volunteer, email Kevin at kpratt@vaa16.com
